About Connie Walsh, CTC

Founder & Principal

 

Forks on the Road was founded by Connie Walsh, CTC and born of her combined passions for travel, food and history. A Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and industry veteran with over 25 years of experience, Connie began her career in the ‘80s, developing and escorting tours into China as the country was developing its tourism infrastructure. Traveling extensively in Asia, she developed a fascination for its diverse cuisines and that first sparked her interest in culinary travel. She has journeyed around the world and enjoyed warthog burgers in Cape Town, haggis in Edinburgh and frites and French pastries in Paris.

 

Connie has held senior-level management positions with Auto Europe and the Travel Institute where she worked, training travel agents and industry personnel. Later, her career included consulting for luxury travel companies, working on the creation of hotel collections and marketing villa rentals in St Barth, the culinary capital of the Caribbean.

 

More recently, as a partner in the travel company Tour de Forks, Connie's role was Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. She took the company to the next level which included a partnership with the national retailer Sur La Table and the creation of a unique model of exclusive, high-touch private label packages. Destinations like Sonoma and New Orleans feature one-of-a-kind experiences and interaction with prominent chefs and local culinary icons. 

 

Connie has been a speaker on culinary travel and tourism at industry conferences including the American Society of Travel Agents’ (ASTA) International Destination Expo and the American Marketing Group’s Travel Mart. An avid writer, she enjoys blogging and has penned travel and food related articles for print and digital publications like Journeys and Social Life – The Luxury Magazine for the Hamptons.

 

Connie is a long-time member of ASTA, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), SKAL, Slow Food and Les Dames d'Escoffier. She resides in Boston with her husband and enjoy spending time with their large extended family.
