Forks on the Road custom designs and operates culinary-themed escorted group tours, domestically and internationally and is pleased to work with chefs, professional associations, travel agents and ad hoc groups. Culinary travel Itineraries include cooking lessons and demonstrations, market visits, walking & tasting tours and experiential activities from cheese making to oyster harvesting to olive oil tutorials. And dining on amazing regional foods in special venues from seaside fish shanties to Michelin-starred restaurants. Forks on the Road's tours can be designed to include iconic sightseeing, museums, cultural activities and just the right amount of free personal time.

Individual Culinary Travel & Experiences

We excel in bespoke travel and can arrange deliciously romantic adventures for couples, gastronomic girlfriends’ getaways and trips and gatherings for family and friends. Kids make excellent culinary travelers! They love visiting organic farms, hunting for truffles, making chocolate and learning about the foods and customs of other cultures.

We have all the ingredients, but the recipe will be yours and can include farm-to-fork lunches, sampling the wares at urban food stalls and dining at best-lists restaurants. What destinations are you craving? Where would you like to stay? A city-center 5 star grande dame or a boutique hotel? … a chateau, a villa? Does incorporating a three-day cooking school into your itinerary have appeal or would you rather do a private lesson or two in a chef’s atelier? We recommend a guided culinary walking tour as a great way to explore a city. Do you want to make cheese, or just taste it, perhaps paired with wine? Maybe you would enjoy visiting a brewery to learn about craft beer. Itineraries can be created to include visits to a destination's key sites and activities like hiking, biking and spas visits. We can arrange private drivers and guides for any length of time and car rental for those who would prefer a self-drive trip.

A one-hour consultation is complimentary and a $250.00 planning fee (non-refundable but fully applicable to the tour or trip) is required.

Culinary Cruising

Culinary travel is not just for land-lovers. Foodies are taking to the seas – and the rivers - as cruise lines focus on the quality of the food and wine, pairing both with the destinations visited and offering an exciting selection of dining venues and culinary experiences. Think about an authentic French bistro courtesy of renowned Chef Jacques Pepin; an intimate Italian Ristorante that bears the imprimatur of Slow Food Promozione, an arm of Slow Food Italy. Ships feature state of the art culinary studios for demonstrations and hands-on lessons and affiliations with prestigious cooking schools Relais & Chateaux L'Ecole des Chefs and Le Cordon Bleu Class Culinaire.

Many sailings feature high-profile guest chefs for on-board instruction and in-port guided market visits to select local produce, followed by cooking lessons in specially chosen venues. Wine tutorials and tastings further enhance the overall experience.
